New year, new adventure!
Today is my last day at Oracle.
I have been working at Oracle for four and half years. It has been a pretty good time! I had the opportunity to work with great engineers, and I’m lucky enough to have them as friends.
It was difficult to leave Oracle without witnessing the release of JavaFX 2.0. All I can tell you is, this release will be the best ever!
I would like to thank all my former coworkers for all the terrific experiences we have shared. I wish you the best luck!
Oh BTW, for those of you wondering where I’m going, I accepted a job at Google. Tomorrow will be my first day there. I don’t know what I will work on yet but I’m sure it will fun! :)
My name is Alex Ruiz.

It’s good to see you’re moving on Alex. My friend Slava works at Google and I have a few friends that left Google some time back. I hope you enjoy it there.
I’ll drop you an IM sometime later this week.
Congrats!
Regards,
Richard L. Burton III
Best wishes !
BTW :
When JavaFX 2.0 will be released ?
Good luck with your new job, it’s good to move on to a new job after a few years to gain new knowledge and experiences, life is boring without them!
Wow! Good luck, Alex. Hope to see you around.
Good luck, Alex. Do great things!
Good luck Alex!
Thanks everyone for the kind wishes!!! :)
Welcome aboard, Alex!
Thanks Chet! :)
All the Best Alex,
I joined Oracle at the end of 2010(Dec)& was following your blogs on FEST. And thinking to get in touch with you on using FEST for Java FX GUI’s Automation.
Appreciate, if you could guide me.
Thanks Biju,
Right now, it is not possible to use FEST to test JavaFX UIs. The JavaFX 1.x releases were not so Java-friendly, making it hard to create a UI testing framework. JavaFX 2.0 fixes that since it is all written in Java. Once it is released (I forgot the date,) and if my schedule allows, I’ll start building a JavaFX UI testing version of FEST.
Cheers
Is there a way to get involved with JavaFX 2.0 development? Is there an early access program or the like?
Thanks,
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
I’m not involved with JavaFX in any way. I’d suggest you to go to http://javafx.com/roadmap/ and sign up for the beta program (or whatever it is called.)
Cheers,
Good luck dude!
Hey Neil! Thanks! :)
I’ll be pinging you this week to set up a play date for our baby girls!
Cheers!
Good luck, Alex. Do great things!
Have you ever found time to finish fest for jfx 2.x?
Tom,
There won’t be a JavaFX version of FEST. It is a combination of lack of time and motivation.
Cheers,
-Alex
